Sarajevo, October 11, 2022 – In the premises of the City Hall, as one of events during SDG Week in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a meeting of members of the Council for Monitoring the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in BiH and representatives of the city and municipalities of Sarajevo was held.

Representatives of the city and municipalities presented the implementation of Agenda 2030 in their local communities. Nijaz Avdukić, acting Director of Development Programming Institute of FBiH, together with Ambassador Miloš Prica, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, presented the process of the implementation of Agenda 2030 in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Representatives of the City of Bijeljina also presented how they are implementing the Sustainable Development Goals, since they are recognized as a local community that achieves good results in this area.

The implementation of Agenda 2030 at the municipal level in Bosnia and Herzegovina was further discussed during the meeting. At the very beginning Johanna Strömquist, Ambassador of Sweden in BiH and Dr Ingrid Macdonald, UN Resident Coordinator in BiH, addressed the participants.

SDG Week in BiH is the UN’s instrument to support the SDG Council in BiH in raising awareness and engaging key audiences in discussions over new trends leading to implementation of Agenda 2030 in BiH.

The SDG Week in BiH is supported by the “Translating the SDGs Framework in BiH into Sustainable and Inclusive Growth (SDG2BiH)”, an initiative funded by Sweden, and implemented by UNDP in partnership with UNICEF and UN Women, under the United Nations’ overall support extended to the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in coordination with the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in BiH.

Development Programming Institute of FBiH is the representative of the Government of the Federation of BiH within the Council for Monitoring the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in BiH.
