Sarajevo, March 15, 2021 – During on-line consultative meeting on the modalities of energy transition in Bosnia and Herzegovina, harmonized with EU regulations, the representative of FZZPR, Nijaz Avdukić, at the invitation of the Reset Center, presented the FBiH Development Strategy 2021-2027 focusing on the priority related to energy transition.

FBiH Development Strategy, adopted by FBiH Government on 18 February 2021, is umbrella strategic document that defines guidelines for the socio-economic development in Federation of BiH, and all future strategic documents should be aligned to this Strategy.

Energy transition represent one of the priorities of Goal 3 of the FBiH Development Strategy: Resource Efficient and Sustainable Development. The priority realization leads to the shift of focus to coal thermal power plants and elecriticity export to development of renewable energy sources in the Federation of BiH, and the beginning of decarbonasition of the energy sector. For this, it is very important to remove obstacles to investments in the energy sector and to introduce new schemes and mechanisms to encourage renewable energy sources, in line with EU regulations. It is especially important to stimulate production for own consumption, while it is still needed to restructure coal mines and transform the structure of economy of mining regions.

FBiH Development Strategy 2021-2027 is fully in line with the UN Agenda 2030.

Consultative meeting on energy transition gathered the leading experts in this field, given that the focus of the Reset Center work, which was the organizer of the meeting, is the sustainable energy transition.
