Tuzla, November 15, 2022  – Today, the members of the Council for Monitoring of the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030) held a meeting with representatives of the Cities of Tuzla, Gradačac and Gračanica, and Municipalities of Čelić and Sapna. They discussed the importance of implementation of Sustainable Development Goals’ Framework in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as obligations and benefits it brings, most of all for local communities.

Council of Ministers, Governments of the Federation of BiH, Republic of Srpska and Brčko District agreed on the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in Bosnia and Herzegovina by their application into strategic documents at all level of governments in the state.

As the closest level of government to citizens, local self-government units are an important actor in achieving the 2030 Agenda and a significant partner to the Council for Monitoring of the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The UN Agenda 2030, which consists of 17 goals and 169 sub-goals for sustainable development, represents an action plan for the well-being and prosperity of people and the planet. Its goal is to strengthen universal peace, with the achievement of greater freedoms for all people, and Bosnia and Herzegovina is committed to their implementation.

Development Programming Institute of FBiH, in cooperation with City of Tuzla, organized the meeting, as Federation of BiH representative in the Council for Monitoring of the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in BiH. Representatives of Council of Ministers of BiH, and Governments of Republic of Srpska and Brčko District, were also present.
