On Thursday, August 28, in the 129th session, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina prepared the Draft Law on Development Planning and Development Management in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina that specifies the goals and principles of development planning and management of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, cantons and local self-governance units.
This document defines the types of strategic documents and documents needed for their implementation, bodies responsible of development planning and management and development planning and management processes in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as programming, monitoring, evaluation and reporting on the implementation of strategic documents, financing of implementation of strategic documents and supervision over the application of this law.
There had been no integral, complete and coordinated system of development planning and management in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina so far, which resulted in inefficient implementation of policies in segments that are crucial for the quality of life and well-being of citizens, such as employment, economic growth, development of SMEs, rural development and agriculture, development of human resources and education, and environmental protection and management.
The Law on Development Planning will create pre-requisites for a faster and more harmonised socio-economic development, and its adoption will result in an adequate harmonisation of the system of development planning and management, which would include all government levels in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in a coordinated manner.
