The Federal Ministry of Justice and Federal Development Programming Institute organised on April 22 in Sarajevo a public debate about the preliminary draft Law on Development Planning and Management in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The law will introduce a system of development planning and management in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will render possible a coordination of development priorities at all levels, better allocation of public and other financial resources for development purposes and creation of a basis for a faster and more homogenous socio-economic development of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the best interest of citizens of the Federation. Drawing up of the final preliminary draft law is a result of a detailed analysis and impact assessment of possible public policy option in this field that lasted for several months.

As planned, consultations on the preliminary draft Law on Development Planning and Management in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina should last until May 5 of this year. After this, proposals and suggestions made during the public debate will be introduced in the text of the law that will be sent to the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for review. Consultations on this draft law are conducted with the support of UNDP/SDC Integral Local Development Project (ILDP) and USAID Project Strengthening Government Institutions and Processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina (SGIP).

''The implementation of the law should considerably contribute to a sustainable socio-economic growth and development in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Comments and proposals made during the debate are a valuable contribution to the process of finalisation of the draft law text'', said LjubišaĐapan, the Director of the Federal Development Programming Institute, on this occasion.
