Banovići, May 30, 2022 – Members of the Council for Monitoring of the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030) held a meeting with representatives of municipalities Banovići and Kladanj, and cities Živinice, Lukavac and Zavidovići. City of Bijeljina participated as a guest presenting their good practice of the Agenda 2030 implementation at local level.
Council of Ministers, governments of the Federation of BiH, Republic of Srpska and Brčko District agreed on the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in Bosnia and Herzegovina by their application into strategic documents at all level of governments in the state.
Today, the representatives of municipalities discussed the importance of the Framework for Sustainable Development Goals in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as obligations and benefits it brings, above all for the local communities.
Implementation Framework for Sustainable Development Goals in Bosnia and Herzegovina is based on and assessment of key development trends, opportunities and obstacles, especially in the context of the country’s accession to European Union. Document defines three directions of sustainable development:
- Good governance and public sector management,
- Smart growth,
- Equal opportunities society,
along with two horizontal subjects: human capital for the future and principle „No one left behind“.
Development Programming Institute of FBiH, in cooperation with Banovići Municipality and Union of Municipalities and Cities of Federation of BiH, organized the meeting, as Federation of BiH representative in the Council for Monitoring of the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in BiH. Representatives of Council of Ministers of BiH and Brčko District Government were present at the meeting.
