The Federal Development Programming Institute and Federal Ministry of Justice organised with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Integrated Local Development Project in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation the first meeting of the working group for drafting a strategic planning legal framework in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo on March 5, 2013.
This meeting initiated the process of preparation of basic theses that will constitute a basis for the future legal framework for strategic planning and policy development in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will result in an increased level of joint actions of all administrative levels of public administrations in relation to development issues of local communities, cantons, Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The existing legal framework regulates only in part some of the strategic planning elements, and frequently in varying ways. Also, the strategic planning and development management process is part of EU integration. EU integration comprises all institutional, economic and political cooperation processes (in some cases social and cultural) and integration of European countries. For the above reasons, strategic planning and development management processes play a crucial role in EU integration. The working group, which includes representatives from the relevant institutions at all government levels, will consider all of this in their work.
The cooperation in relation to the above legal framework will continue over the coming period, when more specific solutions for the mentioned problems are expected.
