From 15 - 18 June, the Directorate for European integration, as the national coordinator for the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA), in cooperation with the Regional School of Public Administration from Danilovgrad (ReSpa), organized a training course on financial instrument Sector Budget Support, with participation of representatives of the Federal Development Planning Institution.
The aim of the training was to improve the knowledge of civil servants in BiH about the importance of the EU instrument Sector Budget Support (SBP), and that the participants understand the requirements for the preparation of the programmes and the key operational details regarding programme management.
Budget support is one way of financial assistance to a country. Unlike IPA, the way of planning in the budget and the resource allocation mechanism are completely left to the state management system. With this in mind, every country needs to assess whether the SBP is the right solution, because poor planning and execution of the budget can have negative consequences for the economy, it was said at the event.
The speakers were Ph.D. Gnel Sedrakyan and Yiannis Hadziyiannakis.
