Brčko, 09 March, 2023 – Framework for Sustainable Development Goals in Bosnia and Herzegovina is presented today by the members of BiH SDG Council.
Host of the meeting was Brčko District of BiH and present were representatives of municipalities of Domaljevac, Šamac, Modriča and Orašje. Representatives of City of Bijeljina participated as guests presenting their implementation of the Agenda 2030 recognized as good practice at local level.
Like the previous meetings in Bijeljina, Banovići, Sarajevo,Tuzla and Bihać, representatives of BiH SDG Council presented the Agenda 2030 implementation process in the whole country, while the representatives of cities and municipalities informed about the activities in their communities. At the meeting arose the discussion on emigration of population, the biggest challenge for local communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina is how to keep the people. Representatives of Orašje emphasized the importance of attracting the investments and job openings, providing employment with decent salaries.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has, as the United Nations’ state member and a signatory of Agenda 2030, launched the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals by preparation of Framework for Sustainable Development Goals in BiH, and it’s adoption by governments of Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Federation of BiH, Republic of Srpska, and Council of Ministers of BiH during 2021.
Framework for Sustainable Development Goals in BiH is the key document that routes strategic planning processes, along with the related budgeting, at all levels of authorities in BiH, it defines broader development streams, acelerators and generators, as well as measurable priorities with relevant indicators.
The UN Agenda 2030, which consists of 17 goals and 169 sub-goals for sustainable development, represents an action plan for the well-being and prosperity of people and the planet. Its goal is to strengthen universal peace, with the achievement of greater freedoms for all people.
